What is a role?

Roles allow you to control the level of access that your employees have in Breadcrumb. A server, for instance, may receive cash payments and keep track of cash until they settle with the house at the end of their shift. In this instance, the Server role in Breadcrumb would not allow a server to access the cash drawer.

Roles can be created and edited by either heading to the “Users” tab on HQ, or from the “Employee” Button on the App Home Screen.

Here are some examples of common roles at a venue:

Admin: This user can access all areas of the Breadcrumb application and Breadcrumb HQ. It is usually the owner of the venue.

General Manager: This user can access areas of the Breadcrumb application and Breadcrumb HQ that are necessary for the day to day management of a venue, such as managing users, sending notes, closing the trading day and accessing reports.

Bartender: This user can access areas of the Breadcrumb application and Breadcrumb HQ that that are necessary for management of the bar where cash is handled. In some cases, this user will act as a cashier and be able to close the trading day.

Server:(who can receive cash) This user can access areas of the Breadcrumb application that allow the holding of cash payments. This user can open checks, process payments and close checks throughout a shift.

Server: (who cannot receive cash) This user can access areas of the Breadcrumb application that allow the creation and management of checks. This user cannot receive cash payments but can process credit card payments.

Time Clock Employee: This user can clock in and clock out of the Breadcrumb application. This user is usually an employee who needs to track time at the venue but does not create checks or process payments.

You have many options for determining how users will interact with the system. Access Roles from the Users section of Breadcrumb HQ. Learn how to add a role here.
