Breadcrumb tracks non-sales related cash withdrawals and deposits through the Pay-In/Pay-Out feature. A Pay-In is when cash is added to the till without a sale being made. A Pay-Out is when cash is taken from the till without a sale being made.
An example of this feature in action: Catherine's Cafe runs out of whole milk mid-shift. Barista Emily takes $20.00 from the drawer to run to the store and records it as a pay out. When she returns from grabbing the milk she records a Pay-In for the amount of the change.
Pay-Ins are when cash is collected on the business floor in an ad hoc manner, such as change from a grocery run or cash retrieved from a safe to fill the till.
Click on the pay-in button from the Breadcrumb HQ homepage or via Pay-Ins and Pay-Outs on the application Home Screen to input a pay-in.
The cash amount and description will be recorded on the Check Out report on the user who is selected in the "Pay-In to" dropdown. The cash he or she owes will be increased by that amount. Learn more about what information is on the check out report.
The user who is logged in making the pay-in is recorded as the authorizer of the pay-in.
Pay-Outs are when cash from the business floor is distributed to an employee of the business for a purpose such as running to a grocery store for ingredients that have run out.
Click on the pay-out button from the Breadcrumb HQ homepage or via Pay-Ins and Pay-Outs on the application Home Screen to input a pay-out.
Check off the Payout for tip adjustment if a separate cash payment is being made to an employee. If your employees are always paid out credit card tips at shift end, do not use this functionality – that will record the tip payout twice. Rather, you will set credit tips to be paid as cash at shift end in the General Settings of your restaurant.
The cash amount and description will be recorded on the Check Out report on the user who is selected in the "Pay-Out from" dropdown. The cash he or she owes will be decreased by this amount. Learn more about what information is on the check out report.
